University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR)

The University of Zaragoza was founded in 1542 and has more than 30.000 students per year. In addition, it is one of the best 500 Universities according to the ranking of Shanghai. The GENUD (Growth, Exercise, Nutrition and Development) research group was founded in 1984 and the the main research activity of the group concerns the study of nutritional status, prevention of obesity and the study of body composition in children and adolescents. The group is currently lead by Luis A. Moreno Aznar. Several European studies have been performed in GENUD like HELENA, IDEFICS, ToyBox, ENERGY, Feel4Diabetes among others, funded by the European Commission. All researchers are experts in running clinical and public health investigations.


Esther M. González-Gil

Esther M. González-Gil is a postdoctoral researcher from the University of Zaragoza, where she obtained her PhD in 2017. Her research field is Epidemiology and Nutrition in childhood related to inflammation and cardio metabolic risk. Since 2007, she has been working in the GENUD (Growth, Exercise, Nutrition and Development). She has been involved in several national and European projects funded by the European Commission and she has also contributed in more than 45 international publications. She held a Juan de la Cierva-Formación grant with the University of Granada and currently she is back in the University of Zaragoza, performing coordination tasks within the DigiCare4You project. 


Natalia Giménez-Legarre 

Natalia Giménez-Legarre is a predoctoral researcher from the University of Zaragoza. Her research field is breakfast consumption and its relationship with lifestyle in childhood and adolescence. She has been working in the GENUD (Growth, Exercise, Nutrition and Development) Research Group since 2017. She has been involved in several national and European projects funded by the European Commission and she has also contributed in different publications. She had a Fundación Cuenca Villoro grant (Zaragoza. Spain), and now she is working full time in the DigiCare4You project. 

 


Rosa Magallón Botaya

Dr. Magallón Botaya is Full Professor of Family Medicine and healthcare communication at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zaragoza. She is the coordinator of the Research Group of Primary Care and Global Health at the Institute for Health Research Aragón (IIS Aragón - Spain) and a specialist in family and community medicine. Her primary lines of research have been directed toward the study of inequalities in health, inequalities of social and health determinants, and lifestyles in the population and in the development of certain chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases and, especially mental health problems. She has directed more than 20 doctoral theses, she has published more than 100 articles indexed in scientific journals, and book chapters. She has been highly present in the national scientific societies of Medicine.


Pilar de Miguel-Etayo

Pilar de Miguel-Etayo is Registered Dietitian, PhD in nutrition and epidemiology, working postdoctoral researcher in the Center for Biomedical Research in Network of Physiopathology of Obesity and Nutrition (CIBEROBN) of the Carlos III Health Institute from GENUD research group at the University of Zaragoza. Her research interests are epidemiological studies of diet and physical activity and programs for the prevention and treatment of obesity in children and adolescents.

María Luisa Miguel Berges

María Luisa Miguel Berges is a Dietitian-Nutritionist (ARA00129), researcher from the University of Zaragoza, where she obtained her PhD in 2019. Her research interests are epidemiological studies of diet and physical activity and programs for the prevention and treatment of obesity in children and adolescents. For the last eight years, she has been working in the GENUD (Growth, Exercise, Nutrition and Development). She has been involved in several national and European projects funded by the European Commission and she has also contributed in more than 20 international publications.


Luis A. Moreno Aznar

Dr. Moreno Aznar is Full Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Coordinator of the research group GENUD (Growth, Exercise, Nutrition and Development) at the University of Zaragoza (Spain). He has a Degree in "Human Nutrition, dietetics and diet therapy" and another Degree in "Public and community Health", both at the University of Nancy (France). He obtained a PhD degree in Medicine and Surgery (University of Zaragoza).
His primary lines of research have been directed towards the study of nutrition, food and lifestyles in children and adolescents, with the aim of preventing the early onset of chronic diseases related to nutrition, especially childhood obesity. He earned different research awards and published more than 700 articles indexed in scientific journals, as well as more than 100 chapters of books.

Dr. Gloria Bueno Lozano

Dr. Gloria Bueno Lozano is Full Professor of Pediatrics of the University of Zaragoza, and a specialist, endocrinologist, and pediatrician, at Hospital Clínico Universitario Lozano Blesa in Zaragoza. She is the coordinator of the Endocrinology and Metabolism in children and adolescents Master at University of Zaragoza. Her primary lines of research have been directed toward the study of childhood obesity, metabolic risk diabetes, growth and puberty and is member of Center for Biomedical Research in Network of Physiopathology of Obesity and Nutrition (CIBEROBN) of the Carlos III Health Institute from GENUD research group at the University of Zaragoza. She has directed more than 30 doctoral theses, she has published more than 140 articles indexed in scientific journals, and book chapters. She has been highly present in the national scientific societies of Medicine.


Dra. Oliván Blázquez

Dra. Oliván Blázquez is Full-time lecturer in the Department of Psychology and Sociology at the University of Zaragoza (Area of Knowledge: Social Psychology). She has a Degree in Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy at the University of Zaragoza; and the degree in Psychology at National Distance University (Madrid, Spain). She received her PhD from the Medicine Department of the University of Zaragoza. She is researcher of the Aragones Research group in Primary Health Care. One of her main research lines is social determinants of health and life styles modification. She has published nearly 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 40 of them published in first and second quartile journals.
